Getting Started

Hello! First let me take the time to introduce myself. My name is Emily Brinkman and I'm the sixth generation on my family's 600 acre crop and purebred Simmental beef cattle operation in Northwest Ohio. I'm currently attending college at The Ohio State University ATI in Wooster, Ohio majoring in Ag Communications with a minor in Animal Science. In January 2011 I'll be transferring to Oklahoma State University to continue my education with a focus in livestock photography, website and advertisement design.

In the past few years I've really started to realize how important it is to share my experiences of living on a farm with others. Only two percent of America's population today is directly involved in agriculture, meaning that 98% of America's population probably has a lot of quesitons for the American farmer. Sharing my story with you is extremely important to me, especially since there are large, well funded organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) who are seeking to end agriculture as we know it. Putting them into position to control our food supply and take away thousands of jobs from multi-generation family farmers. So start following along and please feel free to comment and ask questions so that I may help clarify some of agriculture's misconceptions.
